{Real Shower} Love Birds Bridal Shower

Love Birds Bridal Shower

This shower was for one of my dear childhood friends, Karin. She recently moved to the United Kingdom to be with her fiance Gavin. While she was home for the holidays we (her sister, Anna; Chelsea, a close friend; and myself) threw her a bridal shower. We wanted to make it an intimate gathering where everyone could catch up and enjoy Karin for the little time she was home.

The Love Birds theme came about because the shower was held during the holidays when the Christmas tree was up so we incorporated the tree into the theme.

Here are the pictures from the Love Birds Bridal Shower and "The Top 10 DIY Crafts/Ideas" we used to pull it off!

#1) I found some branches in my yard, spray painted them white and plopped them in a vase. To add some color I glued hot pink tissue paper flowers to the branches and added feathers to top the vase off. I hot glued a silver bird's nest to the branches and added a couple of doves. Super easy and affordable centerpiece!

#2) The bride-to-be, Karin is Swedish but born and raised in the United States. Gavin, the groom-to-be, is Irish and the couple now live in the United Kingdom. Chelsea was making all the food for the shower and she had the wonderful idea of making dishes to represent each of the different countries. This added a personal touch to the food and made for great conversation. Making Swedish meatballs for a Swedish family had to be intimidating but Chelsea pulled it off - everything was delicious!

#3) We set up a champagne mixing station for all the guests to enjoy. Pouring the juices into glass bottles (found at Ross) made it a bit classier. Added "love birds" labels to label the different juices and tied them on with ribbon.

#6) As the shower went on, the guests filled out Words of Wisdom cards for Karin - which I'm sure made her chuckle :)

#7) The cute and delicious cupcakes were made by the talented Allyson Jane. The wooden stand was made by my fabulous father-in-law!

#9) Used a silver tree (found in Target's $1 section) added some glittery ornaments (also found in the $1 section) and placed the favors around it. No need for individual favor tags - just display a big "Thank You" sign next to the favors! Saw this somewhere and thought it was a great idea!

#10) The amazing, well thought out favors were made by Karin's sister, Anna. A London themed paper weight, a fun luggage tag (which will come in handy since the wedding is in England), and Swedish fish (not pictured because my kids got to them before I could snap the picture).
