Need some inspiration for which cupcake recipes to use? It's just fine to use the box mix for cupcakes - but why not think outside "the box" and create a one-of-a-kind cupcake masterpiece!

"Our Top 10 Favorite Cupcake Recipes"

1) Black Bottom Cupcakes

1 box devil's food cake mix
1 cup white sugar
2 8 ounce packages of cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup mini chocolate chips

Preheat oven according to temperature on cake mix. Line muffin pan with cupcake liners. Prepare the cake mix as the box says. In a separate mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and sugar. Beat in egg and mix well. Add vanilla. Mix until mixture is smooth. Fold in mini chocolate chips.

Fill cupcake papers 1/3 of the way with the devil's food cake mix. Top with cream cheese mixture. Follow the baking directions on the cake mix, usually around 20 minutes or so. Cream cheese mixture should start to turn brown when done.

If desired, frost the cupcakes but excellent without frosting!


2) Orange Cupcakes - yummy, fruity, moist!



3) Cream-Filled Cupcakes - "fluffy goodness on the inside"



4) Pumpkin Cupcakes (great to make if throwing a shower in the fall)

1 box (18.25oz) spice cake mix (usually requires eggs, water, and oil)
1 can (15 oz) pure pumpkin
1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven according to the cake mix directions. Line muffin pan with cupcake liners. Make the cake mix according to package. Blend in the canned pumpkin and cinnamon and beat on medium for a couple of minutes until blended.

Pour batter into lined muffin pan. Bake according the cake mix directions or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool cupcakes in pan completely before frosting.

Frost with your favorite frosting. Cream cheese frosting goes great with these!



5) Tiramisu Cupcakes - sweet elegance!



6) Lemon Cupcakes - very moist and lemony!



7) Red Velvet Cupcakes

2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
2 T. unsweetened cocoa
1/4 t. salt

1 cup buttermilk
2 T. red food coloring
1 t. distilled white vinegar
1 1/2 t. vanilla
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup butter,softened
2 large eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin pan with cupcake liners. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa, and salt into a medium sized bowl. Whisk buttermilk, food coloring, vinegar and vanilla in a small bowl. Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl with a mixer until blended. Beat in eggs one at a time and make sure they are well blended before adding another. Beat in dry ingredients in four additions, alternate with the buttermilk mixture in three additions.

Pour batter evenly into lined muffin pan. Should make around 24 cupcakes. Bake 18-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool cupcakes in pan about 15 minutes before removing onto wire rack. Cool completely before frosting. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
