Bride & Groom Skull Wedding Cake

Baked two square two three layer Red Velvet cakes (14 and 12 inch pans);
Buttercream frosting (tinted Black for body of cakes and white for doting decoration)
Red candy melts for "lava" representing Explosion of Love for the bride and groom (melted and drizzled over black iced cakes)
Tinted black sugar for two x-large skull molds and 10 small skull molds (this was done 1 week prior to making the cake pieces); Molds needed to dry 24 hrs (in dry air); Using a drill I Tatoo'd the skulls to make roses and designs on the dried skulls;
Make royal icing; tinting black, red and white; Piping over the tatoo'd areas red for flowers and designs, black for outlining; white for diamonds, face designs, teeth; and piping out mustache in black (need to pipe and air dry 48hrs);
Purchased 1/2 yard of veil material for bride and a red silk flower; made a black tophat for the groom out of stiff felt; used royal icing to adhere to the skulls

The design was from a picture that the bride and goom had of the skulls (1 dimensional) that I took and made 3 dimensional. The cake was the hit of the wedding reception!! Bride and Groom were sooooo... happy. And the cake tasted sooo good!!
