Bridal Shower Topsy-Turvy Cake

by Helen Shroyer
(Kingston, Ontario, Canada)

Bridal Shower Topsy-Turvy Cake

Bridal Shower Topsy-Turvy Cake

It's a 4-layer 6" Dark Chocolate cake on top and a 5-layer 9" Tahitian Vanilla Genoise cake on the bottom.
About 16" tall! I carved the layer cakes on severe angles and then made a hole in the bottom cake to support the top cake, with wooden dowelling as support inside.

I iced the cakes in aqua-tinted vanilla Italian Meringue Buttercream and dots/stripes in paler green tinted white chocolate fondant.....to match the bridal shower invitations.

The sugar banners are all hand-made in gumpaste, just hand-written with lustre dust. (I love the fairy-tale sentiment!)

The little pink roses are made in fondant & the topper is a hand-iced bride sugar cookie on a lollipop stick. (I copied that image from the napkins they were using at the party that day.)
