For an "Around The House Bridal Shower" assign each guest a certain room and have them bring a gift that corresponds to the area assigned.

For example, in each invitation you send out, give each guest a room to buy for.

Have one guest buy for the kitchen, one for the bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, garage, living room, dining room, etc.

For kitchen guests might buy a cooking timer, measuring cups, utensils, a recipe box filled with some of your favorite recipes, etc.

For the living room you could buy a table lamp, throw pillows, picture frames, a blanket, candles, etc.
